NSS reports
On the occasion of the Day of the employee of the National Security Bodies of the Republic of Armenia, a solemn session was held in the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, in which the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan participated.
The Director of the National Security Service of RA Armen Abazyan delivered a welcoming speech, who congratulated the officers of the National Security Bodies on the occasion of their professional holiday and presented the most significant results of the joint work of the national security officers carried out in the main areas during the previous year. The Director of the National Security Service noted that since November 2024, a large-scale process has been initiated in the Service towards systemic reforms. For a more coordinated and targeted implementation of these works, a strategic program of reforms in the national security bodies is also being developed.
"As part of the implementation of reforms for the long-term development of the National Security Service, work continued to improve the system of regulatory and internal legal acts governing the activities of the Service. Since 2023, the Service has been conducting certification, as a result of which military personnel have been given the opportunity to improve their professional knowledge, as well as improve their financial situation," A. Abazyan said in his speech.
Summing up the work done by the main subdivisions of the national security bodies during 2024, the Director of the NSS noted that the recorded positive results do not mean at all that there are no omissions and shortcomings, in the direction of which consistent work is carried out daily.
The Director of the National Security Service also touched upon the protection of the state border and noted that since August 1, 2024, border control at the Zvartnots checkpoint, and since December 30 also at the Agarak checkpoint, has been fully carried out only by the Border Guard Troops.
“As a result of the delimitation, the protection of the state border by the Border Guard Troops is also carried out in the Kirants, Voskepar, Baghanis and Berkaber sections of the Tavush province. Two border outposts have been put into operation on the protected section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Syunik province, and the construction of four more outposts and one commandant's office is in the final stage,” the Director of the National Security Service said in his speech.
In connection with the professional holiday of the employees of the national security bodies, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also congratulated them, noting that the National Security Service also fulfilled the task assigned to it in 2024, and the changes carried out in the Service are quite significant from the point of view of the logic of the activities of special services in a democratic society.
“I must emphasize that, indeed, in 2024, the National Security Service, with its actions and activities, has definitely increased the confidence in it and conviction that we have a more efficient service with each passing year, which is capable of ensuring the security of the state and society,” N. Pashinyan said in his speech.
On the occasion of the professional holiday, a number of NSS employees were awarded with the commemorative medal of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia for their contribution to strengthening the security of the homeland, law and order and legality.
In accordance with the message of the day, the Director of the RA NSS, Deputy Directors, heads of the Main Directorates of the NSS and the Commander of the Border Guard Troops of the RA NSS paid tribute to the memory of the border guards who heroically died while fulfilling their duty, and laid flowers at the khachkar-monuments installed in their honor.
