NSS Officers Detected Cases of Receiving and Giving Bribe in Especially Big Amount

Officers of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of undertaken large-scale operational and search measures and investigation activities, detected cases of receiving and giving a bribe in especially big amount.
According to the obtained preliminary data, it was established that the former high-ranking officer of one of the military commissariats and the person assisting the officer, being aware of the subtleties of the works of the military commissariat and using their connections among doctors, during the 2019 summer draft, in exchange for 2000-15 000 USD, organized the processes of obtaining false medical diagnoses with respect to 9 conscripts and 4 persons liable for conscription and of exempting them from compulsory military service or providing determents to them based on those diagnoses.
Besides that, it was established as well that the person, cooperating with the former high-ranking officer, was engaged in issues of mastering out of service ahead of time, based on made-up health problems, two persons who were in compulsory military service. One of the doctors of the station hospital assisted him with this matter.
In the Investigation Department of the NSS of RA, criminal cases have been initiated on the facts of the apparent crime, according to corresponding articles of the Criminal Code of RA.
Based on the weight of the obtained sufficient evidence, 3 persons have been charged. The former high-ranking officer and the person assisting him are arrested.
The NSS of RA urges citizens to refrain from illegal activities taken to evade military service.
The preliminary investigation is being conducted.
Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
