The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, remaining committed to its principles of openness and transparency towards the public, considers it necessary to inform that on 08.10.2019 charge brought against  former Executive Director of the “Hayastan”  All Armenia Fund Ara Vardan Vardanyan  according to part 1 of Article 214 of the RA Criminal Code has been changed and completed according to the aggregation of the enough evidence, obtained as a result of numerous investigation activities and operational-search measures conducted within criminal case initiated in the Investigation Department of the RA NSS as early as July 2, 2018 according to  part 1 of Article 214 of the RA Criminal Code. A charge has been brought again according to part 1 of Article 214, point 1 of part 3 of 179 Article and part 2 of Article 325 of the RA Criminal Code. 

According to the factual data, he having preliminary agreement with director of LLC /100% share of the LLC belongs to “Hayastan” All Armenian Fund/, on October 26, 2017 signed a contract, to supply property equivalent to 149.474.540.00 AMD sum for the Education Divisions of the Administrations of Askeran, Shahumyan, Martakert, Hadrut, Qashatakh and Martuni regions of the Republic of Artsakh. However the above mentioned property has not been supplied and in order to appropriate above mentioned sum which was written off from the fund on this purpose, false official documents were prepared including passing and receiving acts of material and scientific value.  

On October 9, 2019 RA Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction accepted a motion of body conducting the proceedings, formerly the alternative measure of restriction regarded to the accused selected as a bail, was changed and the arrest was selected as a measure of restriction.

The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia calls on, to use only official source of publishing the materials about his activities in order to verify the truth of the received information.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA by the court decision entered into legal force.
