The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, pursuing consistent implementation of the functions vested upon it by the law and aimed at combating crime, detected a case of theft by squandering, in particularly large amount, committed with the abuse of official position.

As a result of operational and search measures it has been established that a number of contract servicemen of N military unit of the RA MoD, during June-August of 2019, using their official position, by squandering someone else’s property, having a joint intention to commit theft, having conspired not to implement planned training flights of the same military unit and to steal the aviation fuel intended for these flights, during the mentioned period stole aviation fuel in particularly large amount - 10.838 liters - worth AMD 5.288.944.

According to the corresponding articles of the Criminal Code of RA, a criminal case was initiated in the Investigation Department of the NSS of RA on the fact of an apparent crime; preliminary investigation is being conducted.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
