The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has received operational data according to which a large quantity of drugs and weapons were hidden in one of the apartments on Aram street. (video material)
The National Security Service has conducted operational measures as a result of which it has been found that the apartment belongs to the citizen of RA Narek Sargsyan, 31, resident of Yerevan. Within the framework of operation, the NSS officers waited in ambush on Aram street for several days and on 25 June 2018 detained Serob Sahakyan and Vladimir Shahinyants with their suitcases, while they were leaving one of the buildings on Aram street.
As a result of the interrogation in the Investigation Department of the NSS it has become known that Serob Sahakyan is a close friend of Narek Sargsyan, who hid the drugs and weapons. Serob Sahakyan has been targeted by law enforcement officers for helping Narek Sargsyan.
As a result of investigative activities it has also become known that on 22 June 2018 Narek Sargsyan left for Moscow with his bodyguard Artem Petrosyan in order to leave for a European country and before leaving the territory of RA Sargsyan through his bodyguard gave the keys to the apartment in one of the buildings on Aram street to Serob Sahakyan and on 25 June again through his bodyguard asked Sahakyan to move two suitcases from the apartment to other place.
During the personal search cocaine, methamphetamine, 4 pistols, one with silencer, bullets, pills of unknown origin, plastic and glass tubes with white and black signs, dropper, probably for using drugs, and other things have been found in the suitcases of Vladimir Shahinyants and Serob Sahakyan and seized from them.
The guns have been sent for examination to find whether they had been used in other crimes.
Besides, the National Security Service has received a massage stating that in 2013 Narek Sargsyan, abusing the trust of one of the heirs of Martiros Saryan, took from him 14 drawings worth a total of $ 280,000, promised to pay for them 28, 000 USD and to open a joint casino using the remaining sum and said he would sponsor the activity of this casino. After taking the drawings into his possession, Sargsyan didn’t keep his promise and ignored repeated demands of the victim to return the drawings.
Within the framework of the criminal case initiated in this connection in the Investigation Department of the National Security Service under Article 178, paragraph 3, point 1 of RA Criminal Code, on 4 July a search has been conducted at Narek Sargsyan’s registered place, where the drawings, taken away by him, as well as 115 000 USD, 27 000 €, expensive watches, number of golden coins and jewelry have been found. In the course of the criminal case these items will be checked to find out whether they have been obtained under legitimate circumstances.
During the search Alexander Sargsyan, father of Narek, told that he bought the drawings. In the Investigation Department of the NSS he was questioned about the circumstances of the transaction.
Besides, he was interrogated face to face with Martiros Saryan’s heir, who insisted that the drawing had been taken away from him by Narek Sargsyan.
After the search Hayk Sargsyan, Narek Sargsyan’s brother, wasn’t invited to the NSS of RA, he participated in the investigation activities of other law enforcement.
Relevant examination should be conducted to determine the price of the drawings and whether they belong to Martiros Saryan.
A search has been also conducted in Narek Sargsyan’s premises and in his expensive cars. In one of the premises, in the metal cabinet of his room, a container filled with substance like a drug and items for using it have been found.
By the way in 2017 the aforementioned person, known to the public for his involvement in suspicious transactions and dissolute lifestyle, presented one of the cars, Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4matic, to his girlfriend.
Narek Sargsyan and Artem Petrosyan have been have been involved as the accused, and have been declared wanted. Detention has been applied as a preventive measure towards them.
Note: Every person suspected in or charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent unless proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of RA and unless the verdict comes into legal force.
