Big Amount of Weapons and Ammunition Found as a Result of Search within 1st of March Case

Within the framework of the criminal case, relating to the incidents taken place from the 1st to 2nd of March 2008 in Yerevan, under the investigation of the Special Investigation Service of RA, data were obtained, as a result of operative-search measures taken by the officers of the National Security Service of RA, that arms and ammunition in big amount were illegally kept in the former mechanical and repair factory of Mkhchyan of the Ararat marz of RA, the actual owner of which was the RA former prime minister Hovik Abrahamayan, but it was registered in the name of Ambik Gevorgyan.
On the basis of the received data, on 6 and 7 August 2018, as a result of the search conducted in the given place by the officers of the NSS of RA and investigators of the Special Investigation Service of RA, illegally kept weapons and ammunition were found, including 3 light machine guns, 7 AK-74 assault rifles, 2 SVD sniper rifles, 3 different types of shotguns, 2 pistols and ammunition in big amount - bullets of different caliber.
Ambik Gevorgyan and Henrik Abrahamyan, the brother of Hovik Abrahamyan, were detained on the suspicion of illegally acquiring and keeping firearms and ammunition.
The National Security Service of RA and the Special Investigation Service of RA are jointly conducting urgent operative-search measures and investigation activities to check the sources of acquisition of the weapons found as a result of the search and the circumstance whether they had been used during the 1st and 2nd of March 2008.
