The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia informs that recently there have been more frequent cases of disseminating disinformation by Azerbaijan and Turkey through hacked Armenian news sites, accounts of Armenian users of social networks, as well as fake pages created under Armenian names.

In particular, a fake page of the Public Television of RA (under the name Armenian Soldier) was created on the social network www.facebook.com, the purpose of which is to sow panic among the population of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh by spreading false news.

There are also Azerbaijani websites in Armenian on the Internet (in the .az domain), which are designed for an Armenian audience and spread deliberately false information with the aim of creating panic.

Dear compatriots,

It is necessary not to use such sources of information, to be vigilant, not to pass such information to each other, given the fact that their dissemination is aimed solely at undermining our national unity and weakening the state.

The National Security Service of RA informs that, using the full toolkit provided to it by the legislation, it will be consistent in identifying persons spreading false news, provocateurs causing division in society and sowing panic, and holding them accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

At the same time, we urge to strictly comply with the requirements of the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 1586-N of September 27, 2020 “On the declaration of martial law in the Republic of Armenia”.
