Cases of Corruption Abuses in Field of Education Detected by RA National Security Service

As a result of various and systematized operative-search activities carried out by the officers of Yerevan City Department of the RA National Security Service, it was established that the employees of the Yerevan Medical University after Saint Tereza which is a commercial organization, in order to act in favor of foreign citizens, namely, to issue them diplomas of graduation from a higher educational institution in the period 2020-2021, personally or through intermediaries from each foreign citizen illegally received a bribe in the amount of 3,000 USD, equivalent to about 1,450,000 AMD, after which, in violation of the established procedure, organized the transfer of a number of students from the final years of foreign higher educational institutions to the final year of the Medical University after Saint Tereza, then, for the purpose of sale, forged and sold to one hundred and four citizens of the Republic of India and one citizen of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, who had given bribe, deliberately forged official documents granting rights - diplomas confirming the fact of receiving higher education at the Yerevan Medical University after Saint Tereza. In connection with the incidents of obvious cases of giving and receiving a commercial bribe, as well as forgery and sale of official documents for the purpose of sale, a criminal case was initiated in accordance with the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code, which was sent to the RA Anti-Corruption Committee for preliminary investigation.
Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
