Officers of the Department for the Protection of the Constitutional Order and Fight against Terrorism of the National Security Service of RA and the Shirak Regional Department, in cooperation with the employees of the Anti-Corruption Committee of RA, as a result of complex undercover investigative operations, established that a resident of the city of Gyumri B.P., having learned that a relative of Kh.G., who is his compatriot, on 13 September, 2022, due to the military actions carried out by the military forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, went missing, with the intent to steal a large amount of money through fraud and incitement to give a bribe, introduced himself to the latter as an officer of the NSS, demanding 5.000.000 AMD to give a bribe to a high-ranking official, a general of the NSS, allegedly to organize the process of release from captivity and return to RA of the mentioned serviceman.

On 11 October, 2022, under the supervision of the officers of the NSS of RA, Kh.G. in Gyumri city transferred 1.200.000 AMD out of the agreed 5.000.000 AMD to B.P. after which, within the framework of the undercover investigative measure “Imitation of giving a bribe”, the mentioned 1.200.000 AMD were found and confiscated from B.P.

B.P. was detained, the preliminary investigation continues.

The National Security Service of RA informs that within the framework of its powers it will continue to carry out actions aimed at revealing criminal acts, and urges the citizens to show law-abiding behavior.

Note: The suspect or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent as long as his guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
