Officers of the Department of the Military Counterintelligence of the National Security Service of RA, continuing their activities aimed at combating crimes, as a result of complex operative-search measures, detected another case of high treason.

It was established that a citizen of RA, a contract serviceman, a private grenade launcher of the N military unit of the MoD V.H., by virtue of his service had access to information constituting state and official secrets, in November 2021, through “Odnoklassniki” social network, got acquainted with a person being an employee of a foreign special service acting under a code name, was recruited by the latter, and for a fee through “WhatsApp” application of his mobile phone, from November 2021 to May 2022, collected and transmitted to the representative of the special service information constituting state and official secrets about the location of his military unit, combat positions, the procedure of serving in them, vehicles being on the balance sheet of the military unit, in return for which he received 370 USD from foreign special services by three bank transfers, thereby committing high treason to the detriment of the territorial inviolability and external security of the Republic of Armenia.  

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated in the Investigation Department of the NSS of RA, the mentioned contract serviceman was charged, and a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was applied against him by a court decision.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal proceedings continues.

Note: Anyone charged with a crime is considered innocent as long as his/her guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
