Regular Meeting of Interagency Commission on Issues of Prisoners of Wars, Hostages and Missing Persons Held

On December 16, 2022, a regular meeting of the Interagency Commission on the Issues of Prisoners of Wars, Hostages and Missing Persons, chaired by the Director of the National Security Service of RA, Major General A. Abazyan, was held, which was attended by family members and relatives of prisoners of wars, hostages and missing persons, as well as members of the working group functioning adjunct to the commission.
During the meeting, the priorities that arose as a result of summing up and analyzing the work done since the previous meeting of the Commission were noted by the Chairman of the Interagency Commission, Major General A. Abazyan. The need for legal regulation of issues regarding prisoners of wars, hostages and missing (whereabouts unknown) persons was especially emphasized and it was decided to take concrete steps in the direction of developing a draft concept of the relevant law in coordination with the Ministry of Justice of RA.
Clear instructions were given to ensure constant contact with the relatives of prisoners of wars, hostages and missing persons. In particular, through the relevant employees of the Ministry of Defense of RA, the process of receiving and recording the applications and recommendations of parents and relatives will be ensured in order to transfer them to the working group.
During the meeting, the members of the Commission presented the work done, the process of implementation of the instructions given by the chairman of the Commission during the previous meeting, and also answered the questions raised by the parents and relatives present at the meeting.
The meeting was concluded with clear instructions given to the Commission members.
