Today famous Armenian intelligence officer, Hero of the Soviet Union Gevorg Vardanyan would have turned 99 years old.

The Director of the National Security Service of RA, Major-General Armen Abazyan sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 99th birthday of the famous intelligence officer, which, in particular, reads:

“It is difficult to overestimate the activities of Gevorg Vardanyan in the field of security in the USSR. Among the well-known Armenian intelligence officers, Gevorg Vardanyan stood out for his image. He left an indelible mark on the pages of the history of intelligence activities and throughout his life he proudly kept a sense of belonging to the Armenian people.

His activities will be an example of love for the Motherland and service to the Motherland for many years to come. The legendary son of the Armenian people was a person who, through his activities, changed the course of modern world history, devoting himself entirely to serving his state”.
