Case of Smuggling Narcotic Drugs in Especially Large Quantities Into the Territory of RA Detected and Prevented (video)

As a result of operative-search measures taken within the framework of the implementation of the operative data obtained in Yerevan City Department of the RA National Security Service, a case of smuggling narcotic drugs in especially large quantities to the Republic of Armenia from the Islamic Republic of Iran was detected and prevented.
As a result of complex operative-search measures taken, it was established that RA citizens H. Gh. and A. Gh. together with a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose identity has not yet been established, by prior conspiracy as part of a group, complementing each other’s actions, they were going to take from a cache located on the Yerevan-Yeghegnadzor interstate road, narcotic drug in especially large quantities, smuggled into the Republic of Armenia from the Islamic Republic of Iran, for the purpose of sales.
As a result of the measures taken, it was established that on August 20, 2023, H. Gh. and A. Gh. in a VAZ -217230 car driven by the latter, from a specific hiding place located on the Yerevan-Yeghegnadzor interstate road, indicated by a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose identity has not yet been established, took a shipment of narcotic drugs that he had smuggled into the RA and headed to Yerevan city. The activities of the criminal group were suspended because the car was stopped near the city of Artashat by officers of the RA National Security Service.
Based on the immediate reasonable suspicion of committing a crime, H. Gh. and A. Gh. were detained.
The car was transported to the specially protected territory of the Artashat police department of the RA MIA, where, as a result of the investigative actions carried out, a package filled with the narcotic drug “methamphetamine” with a total weight of about half a kilo was discovered.
Based on this fact, criminal proceedings were initiated in the Ararat Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee on the grounds of Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2, Article 396, Part 3, Article 399, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code. H. Gh. and A. Gh. were arrested.
The preliminary investigation continues.
Note: anyone charged with a crime is considered innocent as long as his/her guilt is not proven in a manner prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure of RA - by the court decision entered into legal force.
