In response to the thesis regularly put into circulation by various government bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, that the Republic of Armenia refuses to provide information about missing citizens of Azerbaijan, we consider it necessary to emphasize that since November 2020, the Republic of Armenia has provided the Republic of Azerbaijan with topographical materials on the possible location of the bodies of 51 Azerbaijanis who died in the 44-day war, as well as the bodies of about 50 people who died in the 90s, which were received from representatives of NK.
In addition, the bones of 140 Azerbaijanis who died in the 90s, received from representatives of NK, were transferred to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
We consider it necessary to remind that 993 citizens of the Republic of Armenia and Armenians of NK have been considered missing since the beginning of the 90s, during the 44-day war of 2020 and after it. The Republic of Armenia is seriously interested in clarifying their fate.
The Republic of Armenia has repeatedly stated, including at the high and highest levels, that it is ready to cooperate with the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to clarify the fate of missing persons.
The Interdepartmental Commission on the Issues of Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing (whereabouts unknown) Persons of the Republic of Armenia, in pursuance of the agreement recorded in the joint statement of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the implementation of additional measures to build trust dated December 7, 2023, invites the relevant structure of Azerbaijan to intensify cooperation.
