As a result of operative-search measures carried out based on operative data obtained in the Syunik regional department of the RA National Security Service, a case of smuggling of narcotic drugs in especially large quantities from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the territory of the Republic of Armenia was detected and prevented.

As a result of complex operative-search measures taken, it was established that RA citizens in a preliminary conspiracy with a citizen of IRI, complementing each other’s actions, on January 25, 2024, for the purpose of sale, were going to smuggle from the Islamic Republic of Iran into RA a batch of various types of narcotic drugs in special large sizes. As a result of jointly planned and undertaken measures, it was established that on January 25, 2024, a batch of narcotic drugs was smuggled into the area adjacent to Meghri city on the Armenian-Iranian state border, which the recipients were going to deliver to Yerevan.

Subsequently, the activities of the criminal group were suppressed by employees of the Syunik regional department of the RA National Security Service. The perpetrators of the crime were detained and the car was moved to the territory of the regional administration.

The relevant documents were transferred to the Syunik Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, where criminal proceedings were initiated on the fact on the basis of Article 393, Part 3, Clause 2 and Article 399, Part 3, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code, and a preliminary investigation is underway.

As a result of the operative-search and investigative actions taken, masses similar to various types of narcotic drugs were discovered with a total weight of about 13 kg.
